Training Update

It has been a while since I have posted.  We haven't been able to hike the past couple of weekends because the weather has been too wet and cool. Rain, wind and cooler temps.  Of course today, Monday, it is beautiful. Back to work so here comes the sun.  But that is ok. There is always 'after' work to play.

So today I went on my longest training run yet.  I changed up my timing a little. I decreased my walk time from 3:00 minutes to 2:30 and kept my run time the same (2:30).  I had scheduled 6 intervals on my Garmin, but when the buzzer went off I was still energetic and wanted to keep going.  I started the timer again and went another few laps.  So today's total is 4.3 miles.  My total time was 57:17.  My first 5 minutes and .3 miles was a casual walk for a good warm-up, which I too often neglect to do.  So I want to subtract that 3 tenths of a mile and 5 minutes from my overall time to see just what I did as far as the interval training goes.  Looks like I went an even 4 miles in 52 minutes.

So if I stick to my training plan, this was my long run for the week.  The rest of this week I will concentrate on trying to increase my run interval to 3:00 minutes while leaving my walk interval at 2:30.  I want to run longer than I walk.  I also have to keep in mind that I have a long ways to go and do not want to jump ahead of schedule and injure myself.
